Xoftspy from Paretologic is the largest and most advanced of our recommended spyware utilities, and this is reflected in the higher price. The user interface is impressively full and includes many features, but is still easy to navigate and use. Spyware and Adware affected files are removed and placed in a quarantined area and can be automatically restored or deleted later. Complete PC scanning includes the scanning of: memory, registry keys, files and folders. Xoftspy removes Adware, Spyware, W32/Spybot, Malware, Pop-up Generators, Keyloggers, Unwanted Toolbars, CWS, Trojans and Browser Hijackers. We recommend this to users who want a full, quality system and don't mind paying that little bit extra to get it!

No Adware quickly and effortlessly removed all the spyware and adware we had installed on our test PC, and the malware files were then quarantined. The simplicity of the software with it's no frills approach as well as its high scanning speed ensure No Adware a place in our top 5 anti-spywrae products. Unlike most anti-spyware programs that only clean an infection after it has infiltrated the user's PC, No Adware offers “always-on” protection at the kernel level. This means that it works to prevent the infection from ever occurring in the first place. Of course, previous infections can still be easily detected, cleaned and repaired by No Adware.

Privacy Defender 3.0 from the makers of our No. 1 recommended Anti-Virus software, The Shield Pro, is an impressive software utility with a very user friendly, intuitive user interface. All deleted spyware/adware items are removed for quarantine and can be restored automatically at a later date. This is also one of the most advanced of our spyware/adware recommendations. It also comes with a revolutionary new pop-up blocker. We were impressed with the speed of Privacy Defender 3.0 - our test PC has a 80 Gb hard drive, and Privacy Defender still managed to perform a complete deep system scan in less than half an hour! The pop-up blocker is also a neat little feature, that is less intrusive and faster at blocking pop-ups than other pop-up blockers we've seen. 	Quarantined files were removed to the recycle bin (although this is configurable). We would would have preferred if the quarantined files were automatically backed up to a different location, so as they are kept separate from other recently deleted files. If you want to restore the files, you have to do it manually from the recycle bin!

The user interface of this product is impressively easy, and we liked the optional extras of a pop-up blocker and virus checker, which are good value for money. The spyware checker is fast and easy to use. Updates are also easy to download - we suggest you check for updates regularly. The software is effective and fast and comes with some optional extras which are great value for money.

	We found a few false positives when performing our spyware sweep and we had to restore some of the quarantined files that were removed as part of this sweep

This is another good product from PAL. This spyware/adware remover is extremely easy to use you get regular automatic updates. After removal, the items are quarantined and can be restored automatically in case one of the items was a system file, which is exactly what happened when we performed our test! Unfortunately, this software doesn't allow you to schedule the spyware/adware scan to run at predetermined times - it must be run manually. Its easy to use interface and effectiveness means this software utility beat off other stiff competition to make it into our no. 5 spot!
