1. What makes this site different to the other review sites out there?

The answer to this one is simple...

  1. We provide you with unbiased user reviews from people who've joined these sites before you, as well as our editor's in-depth independent review. Most review sites only offer the editor's opinion.
  2. We pledge to donate 5% of your sale costs to charity. As far as we are aware, we are the only review site that promises to do this. For more information, see our charity page.

2. How do you judge what the best sites are?

After reviewing hundreds of sites on the net each month, we make judgments on the best handful of sites that we think you'd be most interested in joining. Our recommendations are based on the following criteria:

  • download speeds;
  • sound/picture quality of downloaded files;
  • number of downloads available in each category;
  • number and quality of additional software available, e.g. virus checkers, etc.,
  • helpfulness and readability of any on-line tutorials or user manuals supplied;
  • ease of installation;
  • search speeds;
  • user friendliness; and
  • customer care.

3. How does the Charity donation thing work? Is this for real?

Our charity donations are one of the things that really distinguish us from the other review sites on the net, and it's something that we're very proud of! This is how it works... having come up with a shortlist of web sites that we think are great value for money, we establish deals with these sites whereby they give us a small commission if you get to their site and make a purchase after clicking on one of our links. Basically, they pay us for referring customers to their sites. This is called affiliate marketing and it's the way in which nearly all review sites on the internet make an income. (You didn't really think they were just providing you with reviews out of the goodness of their hearts, did you?!) Unlike other review sites, however, we pledge to donate a significant portion of our commissions, equal to approximately 5% of all sale costs, to charity! We are the only review site that we know of that is prepared to make this promise! But you should note that we only receive commissions for referring you, and thus are only able to donate 5% of your sale to charity, if you follow our links to your chosen site in order to make your purchase. There is nothing else you have to do - this won't cost you anything extra, your purchase price will be exactly the same, your chosen product/subscription will be exactly the same, you will get the same technical support from the site you join or purchase from, we won't ask you for your e-mail address, you won't get spammed, there are no hidden catches and no strings attached! This is a totally legitimate offer. All you have to do is click through from our site by following our links and subscribe or make a purchase from one of our recommended sites, and we will donate to charity on your behalf. 4. How is my order tracked?

All the links from our website to the sites we recommend are special tracking affiliate links called hoplinks. These links allow your order to be tracked from our site to the site you purchase your membership or product from (the vendor). When you sign up with the vendor, your order details are stored along with our referral data. The order is taken by a 3rd party sales agent that handles transactions for the vendor - it is through this highly respectable, 3rd party sales agent that you will make your payment. Through the use of these hoplinks, and also through the use of cookies, your order is tracked from our site to the vendor's site, via the sales agent's site. All of this is done automatically for you - all you have to do is follow our links to your chosen site and follow the instructions to sign-up! Note that this does not infringe on your privacy in any way - nobody besides the vendor, the sales agent and us will ever have any record of your purchase.

It is important to note that you do not pay any extra for your membership as a result of all this - our commission comes from the pockets of the vendor, not yours! It is also worth noting, that hoplinks are in use by nearly all referral websites. If you visit any other review site on the net, you will see that their links are also hoplinks (although in many cases they may be "cloaked", or disguised to look like normal links). If you click on their links and choose to purchase membership or a product from a site they recommend, then they also make money from the referral in the same way we do - although they are not as transparent about it as we are, and they do not offer any of this money to charity, as we do!

5. Are the reviews provided really independent?

Yes! Although, we make no secret of the fact that we make a small commission for referring you to the sites we recommend, this in no way affects our impartial review of the websites we list on this site. There are thousands of related websites on the internet - we could make just as much money by referring you to any of them, so there is no reason for us to provide biased reviews. We offer you only a handful of the best websites to choose from. Our editorial reviews are independent and unbiased. On top of all this, we also offer user reviews - something which is a rarity amongst other review sites on the net! If we receive a large number of negative user reviews, then rest assured that this will affect the website's rankings. If it becomes clear that our visitors are generally unhappy with one of our recommended sites, then we will drop it from our recommended list altogether. We provide these unbiased reviews and user reviews completely free of charge to help you make the best choice possible and spend your money wisely.

6. I'm worried about passing on my e-mail address? Will I get spammed?

We do not collect your e-mail addresses, we do not pass on your e-mail addresses and we will not spam you! All the sites we recommend also have a No Spam policy.

7. Isn't it illegal to download mp3's, movies or games from the net?

We don't recommend any illegal sites here. All the sites we recommend are 100% genuine and legal. Many of the sites we recommend are P2P (peer-to-peer) file sharing sites, enabling you to share and download movies, games and music files with other members. It is important to note that file sharing is not illegal as long as you obey and comply with all relevant copyright laws. Sharing copyrighted material without the permission to do so is illegal. You will find detailed instructions on how to stay legal within the members' area of each of the web sites we recommend.

8. I'm having problems logging in to the site I just joined

If you are having problems logging in to your chosen site then there are a few options open to you...

  1. Many of our recommended sites are sold through a sales agent called Clickbank. If you made your payment through Clickbank then after registration you will have received a receipt of registration from clickbank.com/Keynetics Inc by email. This e-mail will have originated from the address receipt@clickbank.com and will have been sent to the e-mail address you used during the registration process. In this e-mail you will find a paragraph that reads "If you did not receive your access please click the link below to retrieve it" Please click that link and it will take you back to the members access page with your username and password and log in URL. If you did not receive such an e-mail then first of all please be sure to check your Junk e-mail folder or spam folder to make sure your e-mail is not in there. If your e-mail is not there then you will either have deleted it by accident, or you did not make your purchase through Clickbank. If this is the case, or if for any reason this doesn't work, then please proceed to option 2...
  2. Please go to the site that you joined, and click through to the members log-in page. Very often there should be a link on this page to the effect of "Forgotten your password?". If so, click on this link and you will be prompted for your e-mail address. If you fill in your e-mail address then your log-in details should be sent to you by e-mail. Sometimes the "Forgotten your password?" link will not appear on the log-in page until you have made at least one unsuccessful attempt to log in. If you can't see this link, then try and log-in with any random log-in details to see if the "Forgotten your password?" link appears and then follow the instructions above. If this doesn't work and you still can't see the link then proceed to option 3...
  3. Please go to the support or contact section of the site you joined and e-mail the administrator for help, giving him as much information as possible about your problem. He should be able to retrieve your log-in details and will be able to e-mail them to you. Please remember that the administrator of this site may live in a different country and so may be in a completely different time-zone to you. As such, please ensure you wait at least 24 hours for a reply.

If none of the above works and you don't receive a satisfactory response from the administrator of the site you joined, then you should request a full refund. Scroll down for information on how to do this.

9. I'm having technical problems with the site I joined or product I just bought!

If you're having any technical problems with any product you purchased or any website you joined that's advertised by us, then please visit the support section of the site you joined. Every website advertised by us has a "support" link or a "contact" link (sometimes this is only available from within the members area). Please follow this link and e-mail the administrator of the site you joined with any technical queries you may have. The administrator of the site you joined is an expert on his/her product and will be able to help you far more than we can. Also bear in mind that technical support is included in the purchase price or membership fee of all our recommended products and sites - so you are entitled to this technical support because you paid for it. Please remember that the administrator of the site you joined may live in a different country and so may be in a completely different time-zone to you. As such, please ensure you wait at least 24 hours for a reply. Please be aware that we are an independent, 3rd party review site - we only review and recommend other companies' sites/products - we do not own them, and as such we cannot provide technical support.

If having purchased your product or membership fee you are thoroughly dissatisfied for any reason, then remember that many of our recommended sites come with a money-back guarantee you may want to take advantage of.

10. How do I cancel and get a refund from a site?

We only review the sites - we do not own them. As such we are unable to refund your purchase to any site you joined or product you purchased. However, most of the sites we review have a money-back policy. If you are dissatisfied with your chosen product and wish to claim a full refund, please contact the site you joined by going to their support section. Please do not e-mail us asking for a refund, as will be powerless to help you. However, if you wish to claim a full refund are having problems obtaining a refund from the vendor directly, then we will do what we can to assist you in this matter (provided you originally made your purchase by clicking through from our site). In this case please e-mail the site administrator - contact details are to be found in the Contact Us section.

11. Why join a paysite when I could use a free service?

Like most things in life, nothing is really for free. None of the free file-sharing programs give you any technical support and some downloads may have viruses, adware or spyware attached to them that will infect your computer, bomb you with pop-ups and slow down your PC dramatically. The sites we review are bone-fide sites that promote clean, virus-free downloads. You will also get technical support with all our recommended sites in case anything goes wrong, and you also get bundles of free software that may include virus checkers, spyware and adware checkers, mp3 players, movie players, and CD/DVD burning software so you can make backups of all the files you download. Many of these software packages alone would cost more than the sign up fees for the sites we recommend!

12. I followed a link from your site and joined before the 5th March 2006 when you had a Special Offer running offering a 25% customer rebate on selected sites. It has now been at least 90 days since I joined. Now I want to claim my rebate/discount - how do claim my rebate and how will I get paid?

If you followed our links and made a purchase at one of our recommended sites before 5th March 2006 then according to the terms of the special offer we had running at the time, you may be eligible for a 25% rebate on your purchase.

We will be able to uniquely identify your order using the Receipt Number or Transaction ID (or equivalent sales code) that will have been sent to you in an e-mail soon after you made your payment. You must have this unique sales ID code if we are to process your rebate application. We will not be able to identify you without this number and if we cannot identify you, we cannot offer you a rebate! Note also that this offer was discontinued on 5th March 2006. If you made a purchase through our site after this date then the offer no longer applies.

Note that according to the terms of this Special Offer, at least 90 days must have passed (and not more than one year) since you purchased your chosen product/membership. This is because the sites we recommend allow you to get a full money-back refund should you be unhappy with your purchase, usually within the first 45 or 60 days of signing-up (this varies from site to site). Our commission for referring you is then released at the end of the following accounting period, which may be another month away, and after that it then takes a further week to process this commission. Only then, after around 90 days, do we finally receive our commission for referring you to your chosen site or product, and so only then can we offer a large portion of this money back to you by way of a rebate. We are constrained in this matter by the normal operating policies of the sites we recommend and their sales agents, making the 90-day rule something which is beyond our control.
